At Home Acne Solutions: Vitamins, Minerals and Other Tips
Many at home acne solutions include “natural” or organic products. Organic or natural products are much more gentle to the body and are far less likely to cause reactions or side effects that heavily “chemical-based” products can cause.
A regular intake of vitamins and minerals can be a great asset to help your body fight against and become resistant to an acne condition. Our food supply simply doesn’t provide the much needed vitamins and minerals that it once did, the soil is becoming depleted of many of these nutrients. The supplements and minerals available to be used at home in acne solutions are:
Zinc – Studies have shown zinc to be effective in treating inflammatory acne. It is an alternative to other topical creams or medications.
Chromium – Helps to keep stabilization in the blood supply and level.
A good quality multi-vitamin can provide you all of the much needed supplements such as Vitamin A, which is an great antioxidant for the skin.
Other Considerations:
Use a good antibacterial soap at least two times a day to help remove the oils and dirt which are the primary cause of acne. Clearasil, Proactiv or other topical creams seen in your local stores or advertised on TV may be a good choice too. It is critical to remove all oily residue on your face and neck. Careful of the makeup you use – most contain acne unfriendly oil and other harsh chemicals. To the extent you can stop using these types of facial make-up, will be to your advantage.
There are many exfoliating products available today at your local store or drug store that can be great to use. You should try and exfoliate twice a day; morning and night to help reduce the outbreak of acne. Exfoliating removes those dead skin cells however, be careful if you’re in the middle of an acne breakout. Exfoliation during this time may be more harmful than good due to potentially damaging your skin where the outbreaks are occurring.
Finally, any at home acne solutions (besides the ones mentioned in this article) should include proper diet, exercise, and a reduction in stress. Some studies report that stress has no bearing on acne but it’s a fact that stress negatively affecta the body, in general, so there’s no reason to think it wouldn’t at least have some impact on your acne condition. At a minimum stress causes a reduction in overall healing and hinders the ability to regenerate new cells.
Vitamins, minerals and an overall healthy lifestyle can play a big role in preventing and reducing the risk of acne outbreaks from occurring. Any or all of the at-home acne solutions mentioned above can be all you need to prevent outbreaks or take care of them should they occur.
